TGIWF Identity Revealed!!

So…TGIWF discovered that a very creative and funny writer (who we’ll call “DAVE”) discovered the link between TGIWF and my web-site, outing the true identity of TGIWF for those that follow his links.

DAVE is a creative blogger who writes about cruising through cyber-space behind the wheel of his make believe muscle car.  While his post focuses mostly about the incredible culture and work environment TGIWF has created, he ultimately linked the two of us together, unintentionally outing to everyone the identity of the man behind the man purse.  I’ve altered the story a bit (to protect TGIWF), but kept the gist of it mostly in tack. 

DAVE kind of writes:

I pull into TGIWF’s office parking lot.  Walking through the front door, something strikes me as unusual.  I think it's this conversation that I am over hearing.  TGIWF is talking about *miscellaneous subject*.  His assistant, Angela Watson, injecting her thoughts on *miscellaneous subject*

pssssst, this is where the culture part starts surfacing...

The tone in Angela's voice is both serious and mischievous.  Angela's demeanor perks my curiosity.  Remember, she is talking to her boss here.  I picture TGIWF as an entrepreneur always on the move, a cat with a high metabolic rate.  I sort of fade back, away from their conversation and notice a matchbook lying on the floor.  This seems odd.  I get the feeling not many folks working here smoke.  Inside the cover I notice an address.  Back to the Cutlass.

The car's headers roar to life as the speakers roar The Wizard by Uriah Heep.  The song is barely over as I pull into Angela's place.  If there was any doubt before, this seals the deal.  TGIWF has created a tremendous work culture!  Or perhaps more correctly, he has let a tremendous work culture evolve. 

As a manager, I have an enormous amount of respect and admiration for the culture at TGIWF’s company.  This type of work environment can do nothing but enhance a company's product and service!!

Thanks for the post, DAVE!  And thanks from TGIWF for noticing how truly fun the atmosphere is at the company.  TGIWF is very proud of the work environment he’s created and appreciated the recognition on his success on making it happen.

TGIWF’s New Man Purse

Well, I’m sad to say that I actually had something to do with this, but Bo M. and I decided it’d be a fun joke. Except TGIWF actually likes it and wants to use it!

Last week, the belt clip that TGIWF usually uses for his Palm 700W phone broke and he asked if I could help find another one. In my search for a replacement geek belt clip, I found this special gem! Well, I couldn’t resist, and Bo M. and I decided we’d share the cost and get it for him.

To our surprise (or not) he really likes it! Ugg. He obviously didn’t read my previous blog, Who Says You Can’t Have Style…

Where else could you get away with doing THIS to your boss?

So a few of my coworkers and I decided to have a little fun with TGIWF this afternoon. 

TGIWF finally bought himself a new car earlier this year, after driving the same car for the past 10 years.  Needless to say, he’s proud of it (as he should be) and a number of us have noticed that he likes to park his new beauty far away from the rest of us.  So today, we decided we’d corner him by parking the five of us around him as close as we could to block him in. 

It certainly got a laugh out of all of us, but also out of TGIWF.  Overall, I tried to figure out the cost of this stunt to better inform the larger corporations and CEO’s that would normally frown upon this behavior just how much money was lost today.

Hours/Cost in Planning	$0 – planning happened over lunch
Cost in Gas	5 cars; 20 seconds of run/idle time per vehicle…we figure $7.475 total fuel/maintenance/vehicle damage
Time lost in gawking at joke	5 minutes x 6 people = $100+
Cost in time to write this blog	$*** Sorry, I can’t disclose my salary
Time spent actually enjoying your job and coworkers	PRICELESS!

The Incredible Faking Dog!

So Kali, the smartest Chihuahua in the world, has just discovered a new trick.  I am lucky enough to work at a company that welcomes small pups in the office when they are sick or just every once in a while.  Since I’m driving back and forth between Brighton, Boulder and Longmont, my little two pound dog becomes a logistics issue and she sometimes comes with me to work.  WHICH SHE LOVES!

So last Tuesday, while at home in Longmont, Phill L. and I were awoken to a sick little puppy that had thrown up twice in the bed.  My mommy instincts kicked in and I cleaned her up, let her sip some water, took her outside, kicked Phill L. out into the guest bedroom so he could sleep, and proceeded to baby and cuddled with my little doggie all night.  WRONG MOVE!

So of course, she came with me to work on Wednesday and was hand fed Gerber Graduates Chicken Sticks all day.  She looked pretty healthy to me!  So no vet appointment and she stayed home on Thursday. 

To my surprise on Friday morning as we proceed with our normal routine of the two of us walking downstairs to go outside before work, the little bugger looks up at me, runs over to her water bowl, gulps up a mouthful of water and then runs back to spit up the water at my feet.  Then she looks up at me and wags her tail.  When I say “yeah, right” she coughs. 

My dog is ruined, but she is really good at faking sick!
