Torture!

I’m sure, guessing by the number of Amazon boxes that TGIWF gets, that I am not the only one that has the new toys I buy online sent to work.  I do this to avoid the sometimes annoying requirement of physical signature on a package that is always delivered when I’m not there.  I also like the break from my desk to see Lori and her joy when we rip open the box to reveal my new treasure!

I have noticed that my last few shipments to the office arrived on Fridays.  This is no good, since I work from home on Friday.  Now I have to wait until Monday to see them...UNLESS you work for TGIWF like I do!!  I haven’t decided if he is trying to make me smile, or torture me, but after he sent me the first picture showing that I had got a package, I HAD to make him open it and send a picture of what’s inside!! 

Luckily, he’s willing to humor me and probably got his own enjoyment out of opening someone’s toy.  Thanks TGIWF!  It definitely made me smile!!  The play by play was perfect!  And SURPRISE...It's another DOONEY!!!

 

Dooney's on Display

Anyone that knows me, knows that I LOVE Dooney & Bourke anything.  Purse, bag, box, book, shoes...you name it, I try to figure out a way to have it!  Even my iPod has a customized sticker with the D&B logo on it (thanks TGIWF!).

Anyone that knows Phill, knows he can't STAND them and if he could get away with it, he'd put them all on eBay!  So imagine my surprise that when my sister took out her custom California Closet pieces and gave them to us, Phill had the idea to build me a custom cabinet in our guest bedroom closet to house all of my beloved Dooney & Bourke collection!

These are the results, and needless to say - I AM THRILLED!  Thank you so much, Phill!  I love this!!  I'm not sure what it will do to our resale value, since it does take up most of the closet, but I already sold one house this week, so I'm not going to worry about selling this one for at least another two years!  Until then...I enjoy my custom made Dooney closet!

Oopsie Dooney!

You’ve got to hate those days when you’re so frustrated with how your day is going that you just need to take a mental break, right?  Well I had one of those days and my mental break led me to eBay to see what was on sale in the Dooney department when I came across this little number.  It was listed at $9.99 and it’s a $40.00 wallet, so I bid on it thinking, what the heck!  We’ll do a max bid of $20.  Would you believe I won it and it’s on its way?  Hence, this one is named my oopsie Dooney!  I HATE when that happens!!!

 

Sympathy Dooney

About a month ago, I found out that I’d need surgery to fix my knee pain.  I’ve had this surgery once before, and my memory of it was one of the most painful experiences in my life.  Needless to say, I left the doctor’s office in tears.  And then in frustration since at this time, after calling my mom and Phill to tell them, my cell phone battery is dying. 

I found out the nearest Verizon Store was merely 2 miles away at the Cherry Creek mall.  So I parked my car and still teary from the unpleasant news, I walked into the Macy’s mall entrance. 

Then there she was.  Directly ahead of me was the Dooney counter and there was my precious new baby.  Staring at me as if to say “dry your tears!  I’ll make you feel better!”

So still attempting to dry my eyes, I walked towards her.  The Macy’s clerk asked if there was anything I wanted to look at.  I pointed, “I want that one!”  She gets me my future collection addition.  Then I peep out in a high pitched whine, “the wallet, too.”  Moments later, the clerk presented me with the matching wallet, and in less than ten minutes, I brought home my stunning beauties.  (They actually do match in person.)

It certainly made my tears go away and she has brought me so much joy ever since!

Happy 30th Birthday to ME!!!

All in all, it was a really great birthday, and the best part is…IT’S NOT OVER YET!!!  Great friends Chris & Lynn are coming in from California today to spend the weekend with us, and Friday night a large group of us is going to the Adams Mystery Theatre in Denver for a show, then Saturday is the block party!  But yesterday itself, my actual birthday was AWESOME! 

Mom, dad, my sister and my two nieces came up to have lunch with me and we went to The Med!  They know me so well and they added to my enormously growing Dooney & Bourke collection.  I got beautiful pink roses from mom and dad, the office got me a surprise cake and I probably received well over 50 emails of well wishes.  So far 30, is great!

Welcome home my new little Dooney’s!  I promise to take good care of you and provide a loving home with the rest of my Dooney’s! 

Dooney & Bourke EVERYWHERE!!!

Anyone that knows me well knows that I love anything that has a stupid “D&B” on it.  If Dooney & Bourke made a car, I’d buy it!  Just because I like them that much.  I’m not sure how I got so into this stuff, but I will blame my mom, because she’s the one that bought me my first Dooney about two years ago when I first moved back to Colorado.

Since then, my collection has grown to an amazing obsession and it continues to grow, so does my boyfriends frustration with every little Dooney thing he sees.  I’ve got purses, wallets, make-up cases, umbrellas, suitcases, phone covers, notebooks, laptop cases…and now TGIWF, while he gives me just as much grief, has discovered the littlest joy I receive in anything with the silly logo.  Only he’s smarter!  He just modifies your normal everyday things without the ridiculous cost!

For example…some time ago, TGIWF Photo Shopped a picture of my Chihuahua, Kali to look like my pink laptop case.  This is my favorite picture of her, and if it got out in public, I’d probably be called in by the authorities! 

Yesterday, TGIWF provided me with stickers that had the Dooney & Bourke logo printed on them that were made for my iPod Nano!  This is the BEST THING EVER!  Phill was very upset and just shakes his head. 

For Dooney or Worse!

So I’ve decided that if Phill and I get married, I’m amending the “For better or worse” part to be  “For Dooney & Jeep”.  Except that wouldn’t work evenly because I love the Jeep!  I received two more Dooney items this week (thanks for the gift card Jason G!)  Needless to say, Phill was none too pleased with the first Dooney & Bourke box that was shipped to our house now that we’ve moved in together.  GET USED TO IT!!! J  By the way…when are those Jeep parts coming?  That’s what I thought!

My notebook is actually pink...of course!  I LOVE them!!!!

I'm selling my Dooney!

New Dooney...I have a problem

There's no way I'm going to get away with this one at work.  It's too pink!  TGIWF and Bo M. at work like to give me a hard time about my silly bags.  I don't know what it is, but I just like them.  They're fun for me.  I just got this one today.

Christmas was a little bit ridiculous, as I receive WAY too many Dooney's.  Phill L. said he'd slap the next person that bought me another one.  My mom got it today, although it was very light and respectful (thanks honey!) Mom got a kick out of it.

So to catch up with what I received for Christmas from the Dooney world, below are the fine bags and toys I received over the holiday.  My favorite is the black satchel, which is a favorite to hate of Phill's.

My niece, Kalani gave me two very special gifts which I really love.  My sister Amy gave me the bitsy bag, but not before letting Kalani use it for a model in the best present ever.  Kalani just turned four years old this past January, and while still at the tender age of three, she produced this amazing painting for her special Aunt-G!
